Interviewer

Two key points of reflection for this week;

1) I have noticed how my own experience as a student has shaped the interview questions I created for my student participants. I can picture myself in class and experiencing life on campus as I did four years ago in my undergraduate degree. I constructed the interview questions and the guiding points for the self-recording from what I had observed or experienced myself, heard from other students or gathered from my honours and vacation research projects.

2) I need to improve on how I ask questions during interviews because I tend to ask one question, then build more on top which has sometimes confused the students. When I practiced, it was brought to my attention that I ask questions in this way and I should consider leaving silence for the participant to process it what I had asked. I am aware that I naturally feel the need to speak however, in interviews, the priority should be placed on the interviewee and their words.
